Final Resume

Built in the middle of a job search, to end one.

Final Resume started as a private tool. It is being opened up because the two problems it solves are not private ones.

The two problems

The first is where postings come from. A job board shows you a copy of a posting, often a copy of a copy: sometimes weeks old, sometimes closed, often leading to a form on a third site. The employer's own careers system is the only place that knows what is open today. So Final Resume reads that, employer by employer, and sends you there.

The second is the typing. Every application asks for the same twenty things before it gets to the one question that is about this job. Prefill types the twenty things.

The line it does not cross

There are tools that apply to hundreds of jobs for you. Employers receive whatever those tools send, read by the applicant or not. Final Resume is built the other way round: it does the finding and the typing, and it stops before the decision. You read the form. You press Submit. An application that goes out under your name is one you looked at.

This is a property of the software, not a slogan. The part that fills forms contains nothing that clicks a Submit button.

Where it stands

Today it is a small service with a handful of users. It reads 15 careers systems and fills forms on four of them. One scan for one account reads about 64,000 postings on the careers sites of some 230 companies. Those numbers will grow, and this page will say so when they do; it will not say so before.

There are no testimonials on this site because nobody has been asked for one, and no customer logos because employers are not customers: the service reads their public careers pages and has no relationship with them.

How the guides are written

The guides are advice first. Every statistic and outside fact links to a source that was opened and read, listed at the foot of each guide; where a popular number has no real origin, the guide says so.
